Plot

Gilliatt, a fisherman turned smuggler on Guernsey Island in 1800, takes on a mysterious woman seeking passage to France, believing she aims to save her brother from execution. As he develops feelings for her, he feels deceived upon discovering her true identity as a countess involved in Napoleon's invasion plans. However, the countess is actually an English spy intent on sabotaging the operation. Realizing her peril after her cover is blown, Gilliatt returns to France to rescue her, navigating a treacherous web of loyalty, deception, and love.
