Rock Hudson, originally named Roy Harold Scherer Jr., was born on November 17, 1925, and passed away on October 2, 1985. He was a prominent American actor known for his impressive screen presence, which captivated audiences for over thirty years. As a leading heartthrob during Hollywood's Golden Age, Hudson gained fame with his performance in "Magnificent Obsession" (1954), which was followed by critically acclaimed roles in "All That Heaven Allows" (1955) and "Giant" (1956), the latter earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. His success continued with a series of popular romantic comedies alongside Doris Day, including "Pillow Talk" (1959), "Lover Come Back" (1961), and "Send Me No Flowers" (1964). In the late 1960s, he starred in films such as "Seconds" (1966), "Tobruk" (1967), and "Ice Station Zebra" (1968). Frustrated with the film scripts available to him, Hudson shifted gears to television, becoming a star in the mystery series "McMillan & Wife" (1971–1977). His final appearance was as a guest on the fifth season of the soap opera "Dynasty" (1984–1985) before an AIDS-related illness hindered his participation.

While Hudson kept his sexual orientation private, it was widely known among his peers that he was gay. In 1984, he received an AIDS diagnosis and became one of the first celebrities to publicly reveal his condition. Tragically, Hudson was the first major public figure to die from an AIDS-related illness on October 2, 1985, at the age of 59.
