A hiking expedition leads a group of students to a quaint town, where their visit quickly turns perilous. The local priest, convinced they are communist dissidents fleeing government oppression from student protests in Mexico City, incites the townspeople against them. What begins as a simple adventure spirals into a terrifying struggle for survival as the students find themselves targeted by a mob. Drawing inspiration from real events, Canoa: A Shameful Memory explores themes of fear and hysteria in a tightly-knit community.
