Plot
In a struggling Maine community, the Beans embody resilience despite their poverty and unpopularity. Earlene, who lives nearby, finds her daily life more dramatic than any soap opera, particularly due to her fascination with the rugged Beal Bean. When Reuben Bean lands in prison for hunting violations, Beal finds himself drawn to Reuben's partner, Roberta. Meanwhile, he also becomes a father with Earlene, creating a tangled web of relationships exacerbated by their dire financial situation. The film captures the complexities of love and survival amidst societal disdain.
