Plot
In 1930s Budapest, innocent orphan Luisa Ginglebuscher lands a job as an usherette at a cinema, eager to prove herself while remaining virtuous. Her attempts at kindness lead to misunderstandings, entangling her with the unscrupulous businessman Konrad and the well-meaning but perplexed doctor, Max Sporum. When Luisa fabricates a story that she is married to Max, Konrad goes to extreme lengths to eliminate the bewildered doctor from the picture. As chaos ensues, Luisa must navigate her tangled web of deception and desire in pursuit of happiness.
