Plot
Amidst the tensions of the Cold War, U.S. pilot Francis Gary Powers is captured by the Soviet Union after his U-2 spy plane is downed. Facing a decade behind bars, Powers' salvation rests in the hands of New York attorney James Donovan, who is enlisted by the CIA to orchestrate a negotiation for his release. Traveling to Berlin, Donovan aims to facilitate a prisoner swap, where the Soviets would receive Rudolf Abel, the spy he previously defended in court. Stakes are high as both sides maneuver in this tense geopolitical chess game.
