This Man's Navy (1945)

Plot

Chief Aviation Pilot Ned Trumpet commands an airship at Lakehurst, New Jersey, during World War II. In a daring move, he launches an unauthorized attack on a German submarine; although the bomb misses, the submarine retaliates, damaging the airship. Trumpet skillfully regains control and ultimately sinks the enemy vessel. Facing a court-martial for his insubordination, he accepts responsibility for the incident. Meanwhile, his colleague Weaver is reassigned to the Ferry Command but crashes in Japanese territory. Trumpet leads a rescue team, and both pilots are later honored for their bravery. Weaver plans to return to Lakehurst to reconnect with Trumpet.
