Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry, has rapidly risen to prominence over the past decade, surpassing Hollywood and Bollywood in popularity across West Africa. Characterized by its unique approach of shooting video films on digital formats, Nollywood has revolutionized production, allowing filmmakers to create and distribute films within days. With estimates suggesting a film released nearly every day, this dynamic industry has become the third-largest globally, contributing approximately $286 million annually to Nigeria's economy. Despite its success, Nollywood remains largely overlooked by audiences outside of Africa, making its story one of both triumph and obscurity.
