A group of squatters has made their home aboard a decommissioned oil tanker in the Persian Gulf, creating a unique community. Children receive their education on the vessel while men scour the ship for scrap metal and oil, and women manage the household and raise families. Captain Nemat oversees everything with strict authority. Among the residents is a boy who frees trapped fish, an elderly man who gazes at the sun, an idealistic teacher, and Ahmad, the Captain's assistant, who harbors feelings for a woman whose father seeks a wealthier suitor. What lies ahead for this precarious society?
