Plot

Monsieur Bosquier, the proprietor of a private school, is infuriated when his eldest son, Philippe, flunks his final exams. To rectify this, he ships Philippe off to England to enhance his English skills. In return, Philippe’s host, affluent whisky distiller Mac Farrel, will send his daughter, Shirley, to stay with the Bosquiers in France. However, Philippe, eager for a summer yacht trip with friends, sends his classmate Michonnet in his stead. When the ruse is uncovered, chaos ensues as Philippe and Shirley unexpectedly fall in love and rush to Scotland to wed.
