Plot

Michael McCann, heartbroken by his lost love, retreats into a life of solitude, obsessively collecting gold coins. In his town, the wealthy family of two sons, John and Tanny, struggles with Tanny's reckless behavior. One fateful night, Tanny steals McCann's precious coins, deepening McCann's cynicism toward humanity. Tragedy strikes when a mysterious young woman dies in the snow outside his door, leaving her young daughter orphaned. As the girl finds solace in McCann's home, she unexpectedly begins to melt his hardened heart, leading him to reconsider his isolation and distrust.
