Plot

Compulsive gambler Sir Giles Staverley bets everything on one last roll of the dice, wagering his daughter Serena’s hand in marriage. Confident in his luck, he stakes her future against the sinister Lord Wrotham but ultimately loses. Overwhelmed by despair at having gambled away his daughter, Giles takes his own life. Witnessing this tragic turn, Lord Vulcan, a stranger to Serena, feels compelled to intervene.
