Plot

Bébert, the mischievous son of Mr. Pelletan, faces yet another failing grade for his antics in class. His punishment? An essay on Dagobert, the Merovingian king famed for his eight wives and unification of Francia. With little knowledge to guide him, Bébert's wild imagination spins a tale of harem intrigue and absurd warfare, pitting him against rival King Charibert in a comical bid for the crown of Reims. Archbishop Eloi, Dagobert's trusted advisor and later the patron saint of carpentry, is whimsically reimagined as an inventive genius in this playful historical romp.
