Plot
Set against the backdrop of Victorian England, Esther takes a position as a servant and falls prey to the charms of the charismatic groom, William. However, he abandons her for his employer’s daughter, leaving Esther to raise their child alone. Over the course of seven years, she strives to create a life for herself and her child, finally glimpsing the possibility of happiness. Just as fortune seems within reach, William reenters her life, complicating her quest for stability and joy.
