Plot

Struggling painter Geoffrey Carroll encounters Sally during a country vacation, igniting a romance shrouded in deception, as he conceals his existing marriage. Battling mental instability, Geoffrey returns home and creates a haunting portrait of his wife, depicting her as the angel of death, before ultimately poisoning her. After marrying Sally, he soon feels an unsettling compulsion to paint her in a similar grim light. As his dark tendencies resurface, the cycle of obsession and tragedy looms ominously over his newfound love, threatening to repeat the past.
