Plot
Hud Bannon is a charismatic yet destructive force, wreaking havoc on those around him. As a symbol of disillusioned youth, he seeks thrills without a thought for the fallout. Tensions rise between Hud and his principled father, Homer, who disapproves of his son's unscrupulous behavior. Meanwhile, Lon, Hud's impressionable nephew, initially admires his uncle's cunning but soon grapples with the stark reality of Hud's moral decay. In a harsh world of exploitation, Hud thrives, justifying his deceitful ways with a dismissive outlook on the law: "I always say the law was meant to be interpreted in a lenient manner."
