Brandon De Wilde (April 9, 1942 – July 6, 1972) was a prominent American actor known for his compelling performances in both theatre and film. Born into a family rooted in the arts in Brooklyn, he made his Broadway debut at just seven years old. De Wilde quickly gained fame as a child prodigy, celebrated for his remarkable talent during his 492 performances in the acclaimed play The Member of the Wedding.

By the age of 12, he had already made history as the first child actor to receive the prestigious Donaldson Award. His career flourished with his iconic portrayal of Joey Starrett in the classic film Shane (1953), which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
