Plot

Furious at being snubbed from Princess Aurora’s christening, the malevolent fairy Carabosse curses the infant, declaring she will die from pricking her finger on a spindle. However, the benevolent Lilac Fairy intervenes, altering the curse so that Aurora will instead fall into a deep slumber, only to be awakened by a prince's kiss. This enchanting production showcases the exquisite choreography of Marius Petipa, alongside additional segments by Frederick Ashton, Anthony Dowell, and Christopher Wheeldon. The performance was recorded live during the Royal Opera House’s 2019/20 season, with encore screenings available online.
