Plot

After years of honing his skills as Japan's premier swordsman, Takezo returns to Kyoto, where Otsu eagerly awaits him. However, his true purpose lies in challenging the head of the region's top fencing school. Braving ambushes orchestrated by the school's loyalists, he seeks to prove his prowess. Meanwhile, Akemi pursues him, openly revealing her feelings. Amidst this turmoil, the talented Sasaki Kojiro watches closely, believing he can surpass Takezo. Though he departs Kyoto victorious, Takezo's declaration of love towards Otsu inadvertently tarnishes her honor, forcing him to leave once more, burdened by shame.
