The Mountain Road (1960)
Plot
Set against the backdrop of 1944 China, Major Baldwin leads a group of U.S. Army demolition engineers tasked with hindering the Japanese advance. Isolated after Chinese forces retreat, they begin their mission by sabotaging an American airfield and munitions depot. When ordered to destroy a crucial mountain pass bridge, they encounter a Chinese Nationalist unit guarding it. With the help of an American soldier who speaks Chinese, Baldwin secures permission from the Chinese colonel, who requests additional destruction of a nearby munitions dump and the safe transport of Madame Sue-Mei Hung, the widow of a fallen officer.
