Plot
James Prothero, a 43-year-old captain drowning in alcohol, is fed up with his repetitive life aboard a tramp ship sailing from South America to Britain. His world shifts when he encounters Manuela, a captivating native girl secretly brought on board by a crew member. Recognizing their mutual sense of displacement, Prothero finds himself falling for her.
