Plot

Amid the early turmoil of the Civil War, a Mississippi county decides to secede from the state, seeking refuge from the Confederacy thanks to an abolitionist and a Native American. The abolitionist's daughter finds herself entangled in a romantic conflict when her Confederate fiancé elopes with her sister, leaving her vulnerable. A prominent newspaper publisher pursues her affection, but she initially rebuffs his advances. As tensions escalate, she reluctantly turns to him for help when her ex-fiancé threatens to seize their county for the South, igniting a fierce battle for love and loyalty.
