Plot

Amid the backdrop of London in August 1914, passionate lovers Elsa Duranyi, an Austrian actress, and English heartthrob Alan Barclay are set to marry. However, the outbreak of World War I shatters their plans when Elsa vanishes without a trace. Utilizing his fluency in German, Alan is recruited by British Intelligence, leading to a ruse that declares him dead in battle. Assuming the identity of Hans Teller, a German prisoner suffering from shell shock, he embarks on a perilous mission into Germany as part of a prisoner exchange scheme, hoping to find Elsa and uncover the truth.
