Plot

After WWII, Stan, a former soldier, runs a drive-in restaurant while dreaming of marrying his girlfriend Joanie, who works as a car hop. Their plans for the future are stalled due to the restaurant's poor profits. Trouble brews when Joanie's irresponsible brother, Frank, arrives with a dubious scheme to make quick cash. Although Joanie disapproves, Stan, who has a weakness for gambling, is lured by the potential for easy money, setting off a chain of events that could jeopardize their relationship and future together.
