Harry Lauter
Harry Lauter was an American character actor renowned for his portrayals of villainous roles. Born in White Plains, New York, on March 14, 1921, to parents Herman E. and Franceska Lauter, he spent his formative years in Denver, Colorado. While there are claims of his early appearances in a few films during the 1930s, it wasn't until 1946 that his film career truly took off. Throughout the 1950s, Lauter became a recognizable figure in low-budget films, serials, and television shows. His most notable role came as one of the leads in the popular television series "Tales of the Texas Rangers" in 1955, which brought him closer to stardom than he had ever been before. Despite this, he typically found himself cast as a reliable second lead or a heavy, often taking on smaller roles in larger productions.
Beyond his acting career, Lauter was also the son of an artist, and in his later years, he channeled his creative energies into painting and managing an art gallery. His passion for art became a significant focus of his life. Harry Lauter passed away in 1990, leaving behind a legacy as a versatile character actor who contributed to the entertainment industry for several decades.
