Plot

Hayhoe, a seemingly thriving town in England, anticipates a visit from the Prime Minister due to its impressive employment rates. However, the presence of Dan Dance (Eddie Byrne), a charming rogue who prefers drinking and pondering life over holding a job, complicates matters. Eager to maintain their pristine record, the Village Council devises a plan to confine Dan to a long-abandoned alms-house, governed by archaic rules. When a new Vicar arrives, he uncovers a shocking truth: Dan is entitled to a staggering annual payout of £6,000, which would burden the village financially.
