The Half-Breed (1916)

Plot

Seeking to establish himself as a serious actor, Douglas Fairbanks takes center stage in the 1916 Western melodrama, THE HALF-BREED, penned by Anita Loos and directed by Allan Dwan. Fairbanks plays Lo Dorman, a man marginalized due to his mixed heritage—his Native American mother was abandoned by his white father. When affluent debutante Nellie (Jewel Carmen) shows interest in him, he draws the ire of the bigoted Sheriff Dunn (Sam De Grasse), who aims to claim Nellie for himself. Complications arise with the arrival of Teresa (Alma Rubens), a fugitive, forcing Lo to confront his true desires amid turmoil.
