The Legend of Johnny Appleseed (1948)

Plot

Dennis Day recounts the tale of Johnny Appleseed, or John Chapman, as told by The Old Settler. An apple farmer at heart, Johnny feels left behind as people migrate westward, believing he can't join them. Suddenly, an angel appears and extols the benefits of apples, inspiring Johnny with a sense of purpose. He embarks on his journey unarmed, with neither knife nor gun. Initially, the animals are wary of him, but when he shows compassion even to a skunk, they begin to warm up and accept him.
