Plot

As the Great Depression strikes, nine-year-old Kit Kittredge, played by Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin, faces a challenging reality when her father loses his business and departs in search of work. To keep their home, Kit and her mother decide to welcome boarders—unexpected guests with intriguing tales. When a robbery occurs, stealing their savings from a lockbox, Kit's friend Will, a hobo, becomes the prime suspect. Unconvinced of his guilt, Kit embarks on a quest to uncover the truth, leading her and her friends into precarious situations as they search for the real culprit.
