Jo Menell, a South African filmmaker, gained recognition for the provocative feminist film Dick (1989), which showcased an audacious exploration of sexuality through 1000 penises and female commentary. Yet, his career encompasses much more, encompassing significant historical events like the Vietnam War and the Allende regime in Chile. Menell's work includes a Bob Marley documentary, an Oscar-nominated piece on Nelson Mandela, and the Street Talk series, all while fostering relationships with notable 20th-century figures. The documentary captures his multifaceted life through archival footage and intimate interviews during a portrait session with artist Beezy Bailey.
