Plot

In 1943, the childless Čížek couple makes a life-altering decision to shelter Jewish refugee David Wiener, the son of Čížek's former boss, in a hidden pantry within their home. Aware of the grave risks to their safety and that of their neighbors, Čížek grapples with the fear that accompanies his act of compassion. As the war draws to a close, the threats intensify, forcing him to navigate dangers posed not only by the Germans but also by his seemingly honest Czech compatriots, revealing the complexities of humanity amidst turmoil.
