Set in the racially charged atmosphere of Anderson, South Carolina, in 1976, football coach Harold Jones discovers a mentally disabled African-American youth known as Radio near the practice field. Moved by his spirit, Jones befriends him, and Radio soon becomes an integral part of the team, even enrolling at T.L. Hanna High School. However, tensions rise as parents and fans voice their disapproval, claiming that Jones’ commitment to Radio jeopardizes their championship ambitions. The story explores themes of friendship, acceptance, and the challenges of standing up for what is right amid societal pressures.
