S. Epatha Merkerson
S. Epatha Merkerson, born Sharon Epatha Merkerson, is a distinguished American actress celebrated for her work in film, stage, and television. With a remarkable career, she has garnered numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe, Emmy Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, an Obie Award, four NAACP Image Awards, and two Tony Award nominations.
Merkerson is perhaps best recognized for her portrayal of NYPD Lieutenant Anita Van Buren on NBC's iconic police procedural series Law & Order, where she appeared from 1993 to 2010, making her the longest-serving cast member with 390 episodes to her credit.
