Plot
Karel Novak, a gullible Czech immigrant, finds himself navigating the bustling streets of New York with the guidance of savvy chorus girl Sylvia. As Sylvia enlists the help of friendly beat cop Murphy to keep Karel hidden from immigration officials, their bond deepens into love. However, their romance is threatened by Karel’s illegal status, a corrupt lawyer, and the efforts of well-meaning welfare workers trying to place Sylvia's younger brother, Frank, into a foster home. The challenges they face test their devotion amidst the chaos of city life.
