Plot

Amidst the backdrop of 14th century Wales, sixteen-year-old Alice faces grave accusations of witchcraft as a deadly plague sweeps through her village, claiming her father's life. When her secret about her mother's illness is discovered, Alice witnesses the chilling execution of her mother by a menacing figure known as The Cleanser. Town preacher Tom, obsessed with Alice, subjects her to a series of brutal trials after she rebuffs his advances. Just before her execution, she escapes into the forest with the aid of her mother’s friend, Mary, and encounters a haunted healer who trains her in the art of vengeance against her oppressors.
