Plot

War prisoners in Thailand have endured immense hardship to build a bridge over the River Kwai, only for it to be obliterated by an American airstrike. In the aftermath, camp commander Tanaka seeks to make an example of the prisoners by ordering executions. However, major Harada intervenes with new orders: the fittest prisoners are to be transported to Japan via a perilous journey involving train and boat. With Allied forces monitoring the railways and dominating the seas, their escape becomes fraught with danger as they navigate the treacherous path ahead.
