Plot

Emmy Baudine, a troubled yet striking young woman in Ballyconnen, serves a local priest, Father Corcoran. Her life takes a turn when a carnival arrives, introducing her to Dan, a charming boxer. Their encounter escalates violently, leaving Dan wounded when he misinterprets her intentions. To escape the chaos, Father Corcoran sends Emmy to a Yorkshire farming family, where she attempts to control her conflicting emotions towards men. However, the carnival's return reignites her turmoil, bringing Dan back into her life, seeking revenge and complicating her struggle for normalcy.
