Clover (1997)

Plot

Sara enters a new chapter in her life by marrying Gaten, an African-American single father. Tragedy strikes when Gaten unexpectedly passes away, leaving Sara to navigate her new role as guardian to his daughter, Clover. Their relationship is fraught with tension, as Sara and Clover struggle to connect amidst grief. Complicating matters further, Gaten's friends and family express their disapproval of Sara’s guardianship, challenging her to prove her commitment to Clover. As Sara faces these obstacles, she must find a way to bond with the young girl and earn the trust of those around her.
