Plot
In "Woyzeck," the troubled soldier Franz Woyzeck struggles to support his illegitimate child with his lover, Marie, through various odd jobs in their small town. One of these jobs involves participating in experiments led by a local doctor, who subjects him to a restrictive diet of peas that drives him to the brink of insanity. Tensions escalate when Woyzeck learns of Marie's affair with the town's drum major. Overwhelmed by betrayal and despair, Woyzeck spirals into violence as he grapples with his deteriorating mental state.
