Directed by Academy Award winner William Wyler, this 1944 "newsdrama" features narration from Lieutenant Robert Taylor, USNR, who experienced the events firsthand in Bataan. The documentary chronicles the journey of an aircraft carrier, aptly named THE FIGHTING LADY, which honors all American carriers. Set against the backdrop of the Pacific in 1943, it captures the ship and its pilots as they engage in their first combat, launching attacks on the Japanese stronghold at Marcus Island. The film has been preserved by the Academy Film Archive in collaboration with The Film Foundation.
