Plot

Millionaire Hiram Brighton enlists private detective Michael Shayne to rein in his wayward daughter, Phyllis, and protect her from the temptations of gambling. Despite Shayne's efforts, Phyllis remains drawn to the racetracks and casinos. In a bid to scare her straight, Shayne stages the murder of her gambling boyfriend, who is entangled with the daughter of casino mogul Benny Gordon. However, when the boyfriend turns up dead for real, Shayne and Phyllis' mystery-loving Aunt Olivia must work together to uncover the truth behind the murder.
