Plot

Andrzej Wajda adapts Joseph Conrad's novella in this gripping tale of a young sea captain facing his maiden voyage. Stranded in a mysterious calm, his authority is tested as a malaria outbreak weakens the crew. Tension escalates when the first mate spreads fear of the ship being haunted by the vengeful spirit of the former captain. As superstition grips the crew and essential medicine remains out of reach, the young captain must navigate both the supernatural fears and the challenges of leadership on the unforgiving sea.
