Plot

Hideo Gosha's Sword of the Beast follows Gennosuke, a low-ranking swordsman who inadvertently becomes embroiled in a reform conspiracy after killing a minister. Betrayed by his comrades, he abandons society and retreats into the wilderness, grappling with his shattered honor. Amidst the wild, he encounters a ragtag band of outlaws engaged in illegal gold mining for the shogun. With the help of a fellow swordsman, Gennosuke seizes an unexpected opportunity not only for survival but also to reclaim his lost honor and identity in a world fraught with danger.
