Plot

Spoiled playboy Henry van Cleve finds himself at the gates of Hell, convinced that his hedonistic lifestyle has earned him a spot in the underworld. To his surprise, the devil questions whether Henry truly belongs there. Determined to justify his fate, Henry reflects on his life, sharing tales of both his misdeeds and redeeming moments, including a significant lapse during his 25 years with his wife, Martha. As he presents his case, he hopes to sway “His Excellency” and secure the judgment he believes he deserves.
