Plot
Set in 16th century Japan, peasants Genjuro and Tobei disregard a local sage's dire warning about profiting from war as they sell their pottery to soldiers. Genjuro becomes infatuated with the enigmatic Lady Wakasa, while Tobei dreams of becoming a samurai. Their ambitions threaten to unravel their lives and jeopardize their devoted wives, Miyagi and Ohama. As their desires lead them down perilous paths, the consequences of their choices expose the fine line between aspiration and ruin in a time of conflict and strife.
