Plot

War hero Jefferson Jones finds solace in the pages of the "Diary of a Housewife" while recuperating in a hospital. His nurse orchestrates a surprise for him, convincing Elizabeth Lane's publisher, Alexander Yardley, to host Jeff at Elizabeth's picturesque Connecticut farm for Christmas. However, the catch is that Elizabeth's idyllic life is a fabrication. To protect their jobs, Elizabeth and her editor, Dudley Beecham, scramble to transform the single, childless writer into the perfect homemaker, creating chaos as they prepare for the holiday festivities.
