Plot

Virgie Cary's father, a Confederate officer, returns to their dilapidated plantation to say goodbye to his ailing wife but faces arrest. A compassionate Union officer orchestrates a daring escape, yet the plan fails and all are captured, facing execution. Desperate to save them, Virgie and her Uncle Billy plead with President Lincoln for intervention, hoping to change their grim fate.
