Set against the backdrop of Colombia's Guajira peninsula, the indigenous Wayuu culture upholds stringent traditions regarding womanhood. Upon reaching menstruation, young girls like 12-year-old Pili must retreat to a secluded hut for a year, with only select female visitors allowed, while all contact with men is strictly forbidden. During this transformative time, Pili's grandmother plays a crucial role in guiding her through the customs and responsibilities of womanhood. As Pili embarks on this journey, she begins to question whether she fully understands the weight of the tradition she has chosen to embrace.
