Episode Overview
Meredith remains submerged, unnoticed by everyone around her, and her deteriorating state makes her urgent rescue critical. Derek discovers her coat on a man she once assisted and begins his frantic search. Shockingly, the little girl Meredith had cared for hints that she is in the water. Derek manages to pull her to safety, but she is nearly lifeless from hypothermia. Meanwhile, Izzie faces a challenging brain surgery on a man trapped between vehicles who starts having seizures. She drills into his skull and successfully saves him before he’s transferred to Seattle Grace Hospital. George deceives a woman searching for her son to gain access to surgery, yet he still fails to find him. Alex struggles to locate the family of a pregnant Jane Doe as she undergoes surgery. The interns learn about Meredith’s plight and share their despair. Meanwhile, Meredith awakens in a limbo-like state, encountering those she has lost.
