Episode Overview

In this episode, Dick Gautier makes a brief appearance as Ed Cavenaugh, a shady sportscaster, while Gordon Jump, known later for his role in "WKRP," pops up as one of the applicants. When Ted requests Mary to order some personal items, she becomes quite overwhelmed and asks Lou for a more challenging task. He promptly assigns her to hire a new sportscaster and let the current one go. To soften the blow for Ed, she invites him to lunch, where he tries to charm her with his suave demeanor. Mary soon realizes the importance of hiring a replacement before firing someone. After reviewing numerous applicants and their demo tapes, she ultimately chooses Andy Rivers.
